About Manny Hernandez

When he is not reading, writing poetry, or working on a novel, Manny thrives at the intersection of social impact, culture, and inclusion, helping organizations shape their brand and create people-centric experiences, products, and content. For 25+ years, he has built new teams, functions, and organizations to develop a sense of belonging and common purpose. After a gap year, in 2022, he joined Thrivable, where he is responsible for Customer Success.

Between April 2020 and March 2021, he served as VP of People and Culture at Tidepool. Among the first people to join Livongo in the Bay Area, Manny helped grow the company from 50 to 600+ employees through 2 M&As and an IPO (NASDAQ: LVGO --> TDOC). He held several executive roles at Livongo Health. He oversaw the development of the first-ever Glucose Meter with Over-the-Air capabilities; he created a DTC channel for Livongo for Diabetes; and he built the Learning and development and Workplace functions from scratch and led Diversity & Inclusion, Recognition, and Volunteering initiatives.

Before Livongo, he served as President of the Diabetes Hands Foundation (DHF), a nonprofit he co-founded, driven by the belief that no one living with diabetes should feel alone. Under his leadership, DHF became a global leader in diabetes social media and a highly influential group in diabetes advocacy, with an annual reach of 3 million people through TuDiabetes.org and EsTuDiabetes.org, the NGO's two flagship programs.

Manny has been featured in The New York Times, NPR, Bloomberg News, and Univision, among other outlets, and has spoken at conferences around the world hosted by the International Diabetes Federation, American Diabetes Association, UC Berkeley, Yale University, SXSW, and others.

Manny also serves as a board member of The Diabetes Link and Life For a Child and as a member of the National Advocacy Committee for the American Diabetes Association. He was Deputy Chair for the 2015 World Diabetes Congress Living with Diabetes stream in Vancouver and chaired the same stream for the 2017 World Diabetes Congress in Abu Dhabi. In 2019, Manny received the International Diabetes Federation's Award for "Living with Diabetes."
